JOB OVERVIEW

We’re two food bloggers who are passionate about food and are looking for a full-time remote Virtual Assistant who loves food and is a great communicator to help us build and maintain a thriving community around our blogs through social media. We’re small, but growing and want you to learn and grow with our blogs. That means following industry best practices, keeping up on the latest channels for promotion, and finding new and creative ways to drive traffic to our blogs.

Aside from having a native command of written English, you should also have a charming written personality capable of writing descriptions of food will make people drool. We measure our success on follower growth and engagement and will use the same metrics to gauge your success. That’s why in addition to your base salary of $400/month you will also be compensated for hitting monthly goals for each blog (upto $300/month).

This is a full-time(40+ hours/week) salaried position with ten days paid leave (5 vacation + 5 sick leave) per year, so we expect to have your full attention, with the ability to reach you via chat or video during work hours.
Your Job:
Community development across social media channels (follower growth and engagement), this includes responding to inbound comments, proactive comment outreach to others in the community, and sharing/liking/repinning other compelling content, and coming up with your own creative growth hacks as you learn about what works and what doesn’t.
Finding compelling content (both on our blogs and other blogs in the community), and scheduling the most effective number of social media posts to publish during peak hours on channels such as Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, and Twitter using tools such as Viral Tag, Meet Edgar and Tailwind.
Proofreading your own writing, as well as blog posts and recipes written by us.
Renovating old content. This includes writing new SEO friendly titles and descriptions, updating images with higher resolution versions, and otherwise bringing older posts up to current standards on the blogs.
Engage with food & lifestyle brands to develop relationships for potential sponsors or partners.
Track analytics for blog posts (Google Analytics) and social media posts (Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Reddit), and compile weekly reports on trends.
Stay up-to-date on current industry practices in the food blogging space by following relevant facebook groups (Food Blogger Central, Food Blogger Friends, etc), track food trends in North America,
Communicate progress on tasks and ask questions when you get stuck.

Maintain editorial calendar: Scan through Pinterest, Google trends and curate trends
Stuff you must have:
A computer with reliable internet connection.
Strong written English with a friendly written persona and eye for proper grammar.
A basic understanding of branding concepts such as identity, color palettes, typography, and voice.
Enough experience cooking to be able to pick out great recipes and spot obvious problems with them as well.
Ability to use photo editing software such as Photoshop, Canva to do basic edits to photos such as cropping, overlaying text and building collages.
Ability to use communications/collaboration software such as Skype, Google Hangouts, Slack, What’s App, etc.

Stuff you should have:
Prior experience as an internet marketer or as a virtual assistant (with references).
Experience using Wordpress.
A basic understanding of SEO concepts and tools such as SERP ranking factors, keyword research, Google Search Console.
Put in markers for video to be edited in Adobe Premier Pro/Final Cut Pro.
