I worked for almost 5 years in Philippine Associated Smelting and Refining Corporation in Leyte, starting as a technical support engineer, and later as a systems support specialist cum apps/database developer. It was there that I gained exposure in systems design, Visual Basic, and Oracle.
I transferred to Lexmark Research and Development Corporation in Cebu working as a database developer, and as a database analyst for four and a half years. My work involved development of web applications that run on either Oracle or SQL Server databases, with an ASP.Net C# and ExtJs front end in a team setting. This has allowed me to improve my skills in Oracle, SQL Server, C#, HTML, and JavaScript.
From 2012 until May 2015, I worked as a software engineer for Tieto Global Oy - Cebu, responsible for our client's platform development. I learned Ruby, VMware (vSphere 5.5 - vCSA, ESXi, and VDP and automation using vSphere APIs), Linux, shell scripting, Java, and a bit of OpenStack.
This quarter I was also able to release my personal project, an Android app named Boxr (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.apps.joelan.boxr) to the Google play store.
Aside from my programming skills, I am also proficient in the use of MS Office products (e.g. where applicable, I create excel workbooks with macros and user-defined functions). My skills in spoken and written English is also above average, owing to regular communication with my US/Finnish/Chinese/Indian counterparts at work. In my free time I learn Android development, and have created a boxing trainer app to support this goal.
“It definitely helped transform my business and take a significant load off for me.”
