I hold a bachelor's and post-graduate degree in Psychology, and a Bachelor of Laws. I started my career as a professional writer for film TV, and print ads, dabbling in poetry, essay, and short stories. Midway through my career, I have transitioned into the legal profession and worked under the Supreme Court of the Philippines as Court Interpreter and Acting Branch Clerk of Court at a Regional Trial Court, which jumpstarted my career as a freelance litigation paralegal. As a paralegal, my role has been focused solely on drafting petitions, complaints, and other legal briefs and memorandum.
Before transitioning full time to virtual work, my most recent experience in a co-working space involved a paralegal role for an expat and immigration attorney from New York. Then, the corporation, owned by an Australian CEO known for having changed the landscape of the international services industry in Australia, the Philippines, and other Asian countries, re-contracted me as a Corporate Paralegal and Human Resources and Labor Officer. My duties and responsibilities involved conference call and in-person meetings with CEOs of client foreign companies, business directors, and staff managers of client companies; reviewing business contracts entered into by the corporation; drafting legal opinions based on corporate legal disputes; reviewing and revising company policies and employment contracts; assisting in new employees onboarding and handling administrative dispute resolutions; other related duties and responsibilities.
In the course of my career performing different roles, both in co-working space and virtual office, I have familiarized myself in different types of work discipline and adapted effectively and competently in cross-cultural environments; aptly applied Philippine, Australian, and US state laws, with primary focus on family and contracts law. I have also acquired a great deal of experience in different research processes and tools, cross-training in business operations; client intakes and case management.
I am proactive, passionately self-motivated and team-oriented, and flexible with strong work ethics. For as long as the job will allow me to grow and learn more, I am not afraid to try anything new and go outside my comfort zones. The only thing that I'm afraid of is the failure to act. I believe that everything, as in life itself, is a learning process. The only limits that exist are the ones we set for ourselves.
“It definitely helped transform my business and take a significant load off for me.”
