• Ensure that the admissions and discharges are accurately entered and updated in the system and match with the facilities' records. • Enter patients' information such as insurance ID, responsible paying party contact details, and other personal information • Submit electronic and paper claims to private and government insurance. • Ensure that payments from insurance and private parties are posted accurately to the ledger. • Call insurance companies or family members for patients who have outstanding balances for more than 30 days and send cases to the collection agency for those residents whom we are having trouble collecting payments. • Communicate with the insurance companies to resolve any denied claims • Research ways to overturn payment denials from insurance companies. • Prepare checks from patients' funds requested to be paid towards personal expenses. • Review monthly reconciliations of facilities' bank records and makes sure everything ties out and no deposits are missing. • Prepare write-offs by attaching copies of denial letters, notes of collection attempts and ledgers to be reviewed by the billing supervisor for those cases that are deemed uncollectible. • Refund any remaining patients funds upon discharge/death given that all outstanding balances have been paid off.
