I have been providing copy editing and proofreading services for my international clients (startups, established businesses, etc.) for 4.5 years now, performing edits in Australian, British, and American English. I am highly familiar with the Chicago Manual of Style and use it as a guide for most of my projects.
I work on materials such as the following:
- Fiction/non-fiction books and e-books of different genres
- Articles (e.g. business, lifestyle, real estate, etc.)

- Technical documents that need translating into easy-to-understand language

While a project is ongoing, it usually happens that clients request me to do tasks which complement it. This is when opportunities for data entry and research arise. Other times, there is a need to answer customers' inquiries made through a client's website or to interact with them when they share their ideas about a blog post or article. Also, there are instances when clients ask to source a product which they are having difficulty finding. That being said, I always try my best to cover my clients' requirements each time.
I believe that we can learn something new every day. So, if it happens that I am not familiar with the tasks being requested, I make it a point to learn more about them by researching online or gladly receive training from clients if they are happy to provide it. I am highly trainable due to my willingness to learn new skills, being a fast learner at that.
In terms of soft skills, I am comfortable and confident in speaking and dealing with people from all over the world. My calm demeanor always helps my clients feel at ease. These traits have helped me to gain more than ten years' combined experience in face-to-face and web-based client service.
I use the following programs to maximize work efficiency:
- Microsoft Office: Word (with Track Changes if required) and Excel
- Grammarly and similar online tools (for grammar and plagiarism checks)
- Google Drive/Docs/Sheets and Dropbox (for file storage, organization, and sharing)
- Weebly (encoding copy for a web page and doing on-screen editing, uploading images, and publishing; working within e-commerce platform)
- Gmail/Yahoo/Skype/Hangouts (for instant communication)
- Wunderlist (for task organization)
