I have had a fulfilling career in teaching college and senior high students for a good 8 years especially in the field of Biology and Research. This has allowed me to acquire basic and advanced laboratory methods required in the fields of Cell Biology and Microbiology. This has also allowed me to learn the use of different research and statistical tools such as GraphPad Prism, BLAST, SAS, SPSS, Adobe Photoshop; have a basic grasp on Microsoft Office tools; and am willing to learn to use new online tools.
I have also served as a Research Coordinator for almost 4 years at the University of the East Manila overseeing multi-disciplinary researches (Qualitative, Quantitative, Philosophical and Experimental Researches) and have spearheaded one National Research Conference (1st Balagdiwa at Kamalayan National Research Conference, Multidisciplinary Research: A Springboard for Nation-building). I have also made good use of my free time while unemployed by acquiring online certificate courses on Marketing and Financial Accounting Accounting offered by Wharton University of Pennsylvania Online.
Although I haven't had a chance yet to be a Virtual Assistant I think my stint (4 years, 2017-2020) as part of the administration in my previous University where I worked at as Research Coordinator has taught me how to be organized, proficient and efficient at some of these skill sets. Examples of which are handling and leading research projects for both faculty and students, rigorous quality assurance of researches they put out, use of online and offline tools (Grammarly, Turnitin, BLAST, SAS, SPSS, Graphpad Prism, Canva, Photoshop, Microsoft Office among others) for both research and administrative work, and organizing and checking e-mails.
I am very proficient at using the English Language as this is the medium we use at home even when talking casually with family and some friends. Teaching at the college level has further honed my grasp of the language and numerous speaking engagements in conferences and seminars have contributed to this skill set as well.
Writing has always been a skillset I've continuously honed over the years together with public speaking as this is an indelible part of the teaching profession. I have done scientific writing and have published a few of my collaborative researches in scientific journals ( For reference: • Discrepancy of Air Quality between Developing and Developed Countries: Reasons and Implications; SciFed Journal of Global Warming; June 2018 • Perception of the Selected Residents on Household Composting in a Highly Urbanized Area, Manila, Philippines; Journal of Ecology & Natural Resources; July 6, 2018 • Characterization and Quantification of Microplastics in Slipper-cupped oyster, Crassostrea iredalei (Faustino, 1932) from Canacao Bay, Cavite City, Philippines; Journal of Nature Studies 19(2): 10-24) I have done technical writing as well to easily convey information to students especially in the field of research. I have drafted numerous business and official letters, questionnaires and surveys, and official policies which my previous University now uses as templates.
