I have worked in different fields of endeavor, and started working before I graduated from college.
My first job was in the field of telecommunication where I was a message handling specialist at EasyCall Cebu Philippines, April 1995- January 1996.
This company is known to provide pager services.
As a message handling specialist our main responsibility is to receive messages and send them to pager end users subscribed to us.
I enjoyed my work and we were like a family.
However, because of the need to expand more knowledge and work on my field of interest I decided to leave the company.
While waiting for a good break, a friend of mine was kind enough to pave a way for me to temporarily work in one of the Most outstanding malls here in the Philippines, SM Shopping Center Management Corporation, from August 1996 - October 1996.
The scope of work include booking clients in the Conference Center, Art Center and Trade Hall, assist them during the ingress and egress of their events.
It was a great opportunity for me for it paved the way to more direct customer relations and marketing of the said venues as well.
While working with the company I never stopped looking for work on my field, which is Chemical Engineering.
So, after three months I was accepted in a service oriented company, which was M-Tech Corporation, November 1996 - June 2004.
This is a Japanese owned company where we provide technical services on generator sets and water treatment machines and technologies to manufacturing plants.
My responsibilities include water, raw materials, wastewater analysis; documentation on process flow and standard procedures for all the analysis we do; work on simple pvc piping connections; inspection and hauling assistance of septic sludge; monitor process for water, wastewater and electroplating wastewater.
The job was a fulfillment at that time because it was what I have been dreaming and praying for.
While working it is difficult taking care of the kids on the side.
There was a time when my house help left us to be with her family, so I decided to leave work.
It was a painful decision because I know that I have children to feed, but I don't have any choice because I can't leave the kids alone in the house.
I tried training for the insurance agent position in a pre-need company, Generali Filipinas, July 2006 - July 2007.
Fortunately I passed both the life and non-life exams for insurance agents.
I tried selling insurance for a year.
Then I entered the outsourcing industry because it was new to me.
I wanted to try another field where I can take care of my kids during the day and work at night.
Convergy's Philippines was the first outsourcing company that I joined, from February 2005 - May 2005.
The position was customer service representative, and the responsibilities include taking in-bound calls, help customers on their billing, process activation on their product subscriptions and marketing.
On the early part of the training I was all excited, and can't wait to start on the floor.
However, I was overwhelmed by how the customers were.
I tried to understand how they were feeling about the products and services, and as for me I tried my best to provide them the best care I can.
But my stay was short lived.
I was having my third baby on the way, so I decided to leave.
The second outsourcing company was Sykes Asia, Inc, from January 2007 - May 2008.
I was a technical support representative there.
The responsibilities include taking in-bound calls, help customers with their product, assist them with simple on the phone troubleshooting steps/techniques, and customer service as well.
It was happy working with the company even if they require us to work on holidays.
It was a job that was manageable on my part.
It was my decision to work overtime for I enjoyed my job, and somehow I can earn more to provide for my family pay the bills.
The experiences I had with the companies that employed me were very helpful in building who I am today.
With all the technical trainings that were provided I can say that it is not hard to adopt to another field of endeavor.
Working at home is an advantage for me because I will be able to work in my own surroundings and take care of the kids and home all at the same time.
I hope your good office will give me the chance to work with you in the future.
I am not perfect as a person with extraordinary skills, but I know that I can give my all to work and make the small things extraordinary.
